Dorje Kashmiri Kahwa Tea - The Essence of Kashmir and Darjeeling
Kashmir is called 'Paradise on Earth' because of its amazing landscape and scenic beauty. It has beautiful snow-covered mountains, green valleys and natural lakes. This exotic place has a drink that is fit for the Gods – The Kashmiri Kahwa
Origin of the Kahwa
While its exact origins are unclear, kahwa tea leaves are said to have come to Kashmir through the Spice Route, which Kashmir was a central point of. Many locals believe that kashmiri kahwa recipe originated in the first or second century from the Yarkand valley (now in China) during the Kushan empire.
Interestingly, the word Kahva comes from the Arabic ‘Qahva’ which means Aromatic Drink. In fact, the Kashmiri Kahwa was known as the Mogul Chai.
The secret behind its popularity
In places like Kashmir and elsewhere, the majority of the year is defined by a solid winter season. Kashmir, which is characterised by cold chilling wind and snow, is the best suitable place to begin the day with kashmiri kahwa. As it keeps you warm, healthy, and refreshed all day and every day.
Kashmiri Kahwa – The Traditional Way
Kashmiri kahwa ingredients include delectably fragrant spices such as cinnamon, cardamom, and saffron, as well as dried rose petals, are boiled in water and then steeped with Kashmiri green tea. This kashmiri kahwa tea is then poured over slivered almonds and saffron, giving Kashmiri Kahwa Tea a deep flavour and richness. The beverage can be sweetened with honey or sugar if desired.
The kashmiri kahwa green tea is a celebratory drink. Traditionally prepared in a brass kettle known as samovar and typically served in a bronze cup after it has been prepared.
Over the years, the kahwa has undergone many permutations and combinations. Some people like to add milk, some like it with honey and saffron only. However, the one thing that remains constant is that it must be aromatic!
