First Flush (Currently Delivering)

 

SEASON
During the dormant winter, Selim Hill fertilises and prepares itself for the coming of Spring. And Spring appears like a glorious hornbill, with the coming of March. The bushes develop a dark green texture and the leaves begin flushing as they rise towards the heavens. The season is still cool and breezy, and the freshness can be felt in your cup.

DRY LEAF
Silver shades of green. Our leaves are rough, long, and bold. Like a Persian carpet, the inconsistency of our leaves is a mark of  the authenticity of our product.

LIQUORING
Lime greenish fading into the white cup.

AROMA
Delicate, floral notes, and fresh-cut-field aromas.

FLAVOURS
Selim Hill will dispel all your notions about the bitterness of green teas. Our green teas are not only healthy, and bursting with antioxidants, but also have a positively sweet aftertaste.

LEGEND
Nurtured by the Selim Hill Forest, your First Flush teas are grown under the shadow of the bamboo groves of the famed Andheri Section, home to the roving elephants of the region. Very rare are the Green Teas that are produced in Darjeeling during this season.

PREPARATION
Add 2 teaspoons (2.5 g) and steep hot water for 5 minutes. Brew and enjoy the Original Taste of Darjeeling.

Second Flush

 

SEASON
Springtime is rudely interrupted at Selim Hill by a brisk round of showers around May every year. “The slumbering life forces of the forest come alive, the birds, the bees, and the flowers on the trees,” as Rajah Banerjee likes to put it. Life is gruelling for the ladies who pluck your teas during this season. They walk far and wide everyday to capture the spiritual biodiversity that Selim Hill offers in creating this immunity boosting wonder.

LIQUORING
Light-olive greenish in appearance.

AROMA
Vegetal and grassy.

FLAVOURS
Light and sweet, our Second Flush Green teas are smooth and floral. You can add a touch of lemon to balance the citrus profile.

LEGEND
Nurtured by the Selim Hill Forest, your Second Flush teas come from a section known as Meethedhare — sweet buds. These sweet buds bloom to offer a most special green tea.

Roasted Flush

 

SEASON
The monsoons are long, and lonely in Darjeeling. Shrouded by mist, Selim Hill experiences a daily downpour accompanied by claps of thunders and flashes of lightning. But plucking does not halt. Armed with an umbrella in one hand, while warding off leeches and snakes, the ladies of Selim Hill look to collect the bounty that nature suddenly offers in these 2 months, with their nimble, trained hands.

Bold and bright greenish.

Our Monsoon Flush green teas are stronger on the nose with a brisk tartness. 

LEGEND
During the longest season of the year Selim Hill has traditionally always prepared its famed Green Teas.  The antioxidants present in our Green Teas are blessed by the spirituality of the biodiversity that exists in our farms.

Autumn Flush

 

SEASON
Just before winter takes over, Selim Hill produces some of its best teas in the entire year. The Autumn Flush is the final offering of the tea bushes of the estate. The climax of a delightful year can be felt in the complexity of its cup. Winter is also the time when the veils of mist give way for a fleeting glimpse of the Kanchenjunga from Selim Hill. Maybe its the presence of these five sacred peaks that can be felt during this magical Flush.

LIQUORING
Golden fading into green.

AROMA
Floral, fragrant and tropical, with hints of jasmine.

FLAVOURS
Intense in flavour, but light and relaxed on the cup. The Autumn Flush teas have a buttery texture and a floral aftertaste. It combines the best of all Flushes and is offered to us by our bushes in very small batches.

LEGEND
Plucking takes place in the upper divisions of the tea estate where the cool winds are able to nurture the perfect teas for the season. The underrated Autumn Flush is our personal favourite!
