This, my friends, is not curated reality. As I walk along the twists and turns, I sometimes wonder whether I am lost or have I just found myself? Almost as if it has read my thoughts, a fern waves out and encourages me onwards.
For centuries, man has hunted the pot of gold hidden at the end of the rainbow. The wealth of the Darjeeling Hills lies in its richness of biodiversity. At Selim Hill, when tears mix with warm sunshine and happiness, the multi-coloured bridge in heaven appears. Believe me when I say you can almost touch it and climb the steps upwards if you think it is time to go to the next level.
It was at Second Chance, Selim Hill, on one of our nightly walks, that these miraculous creatures, the fireflies, visited us and re-introduced themselves to us. It was almost as if an unforgotten memory had floated to the surface.
We would like to provide you a window into life at Selim Hill Tea Garden, where your teas are carefully plucked, and manufactured by us.
Last week, we saw torrential rainfall through the week, which led to landslides in many parts of Darjeeling and within our farms
The Ayurvedic way of life is based on the fact that the world and everything in the world is made up of different combinations of the five basic elements - aakash (space), jala (water), prithvi (earth), teja (fire), and vayu (air)
Lifestyle, food and drink choices should be based on the Ayurvedic Dosha you belong to for the ultimate balance in life. At Dorje teas, we have curated teas according to the different Ayurvedic Doshas.
India, the land of mystique and mysticism; India, the land sought after by the world for its many spices; India, the land of the Himalayas - All these different ideas come together in the Dorje Kashmiri Kahwa. Interestingly, the word Kahva comes from the Arabic ‘Qahva’ which means Aromatic Drink.
Orange peels are said to be packed with abundance, love, luck, clarity and divinity. Darjeeling has a deep connection with oranges. They are the golden fruit in the orchards of the Gods and the hills of Darjeeling. Dorje Teas, in keeping with these thoughts, has come up with the Dorje Orange Tea.
In the mad rush of life, filled with stress and difficulties, everyone wishes there was an easy way to wind down. Keeping this in mind, Dorje Teas has come up with a cup of tea that heals and invigorates - the Dorje Chamomile Tea
TheHornbillis so complete and confident in its beauty that it does not aim to please anyone else - It does not fight to fit size zero, it has not practised its pout for the paparazzi, steeped in family values and loyalty, it does not feature on the scandal sheet, in fact it does not deign to touch the ground at all. It belongs to the skies.
What or who can preserve something as dynamic and magnificent as the Selim Hill Tea Estate from becoming a thing of nostalgia? A lot of passion, patience and commitment is required - a collection of people from different fields have 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗺 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲. Headed by Mr. Rajah Banerjee, in collaboration with Dorje, we hope to provide Selim Hill Tea Estate with a stable and sustainable future.
Every Tea Garden Bungalow has to have its own resident ghost. I was a little disappointed thatSecond Chance House(only 150 years old) atSelim Hill Tea Gardenhad no ghosts and visiting friends and family could not be enthralled with hair raising stories.

As wildlife enthusiasts, we have often visited sanctuaries and seen big cats whose whereabouts were scoured aforehand by forest rangers. Visiting a forest as a tourist and living in the forest as an inhabitant are two entirely different things. There is no aphrodisiac which gives you a high such as a chance and surprise sighting of a wild animal and that too a big cat!
If only there was a way to experience the brisk, unheated mists ofDarjeelingorDorjeling. We all long for a tall glass of cool and healthy something to hydrate ourselves with. Something that is completely non - hassle and can travel with us on a hectic day.
The vast expanse of nothingness way up on the hills, brings to surface self-doubt and apprehension. However, Captain Kirk (from yester-years Star Trek) saves the day and whispers into my ear - “You know the greatest danger facing us is ourselves, an irrational fear of the unknown. But there’s no such thing as the unknown — only things temporarily hidden, temporarily not understood.”
The story until now is well known. People started writing offRajah Banerjeeas ‘Finished’ and ‘Has been’. However, you cannot put down the unputdownable. Here is where I tell you about how thePhoenix was reborn and rose out of the ashes.
